The quotation as a reply to an enquiry may be a simple one and it can contain the prices and some other information. An astute businessman, however, will take this opportunity to stimulate his correspondent’s interest in his goods and services by including a sales message.
Offers are also sent without the preceding enquiry when a supplier wants to draw the attention of customers and new customers to a special product or range of goods.
If the supplier is in a position to meet his correspondent’s requirements, in his reply he will generally:
Dear Mr Ranger,
Thank you for your letter of 15 April enquiring about our cotton sheets.
We have pleasure in enclosing our latest catalogue and price list. Please note that the prices quoted do not include insurance and delivery.
We have a representative office in Madrid and we are inviting you to contact them and take a closer look at our range of products.
We support that you should contact Ms Julia Sanchez, who will be staying at the Hyatt Hotel, Madrid, between 10 and 18 May.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
